Stretch marks (Striae) are characterized by whitish or purple lines, located in connective tissue. Stretch marks are visible through the transparency of the dermis.

There are 2 stages:

• Red stage: inflammatory stage, the dermis is edematous and fragments of elastic fibers appear. The color of the welt is red/erythematous, or rather violet.
• White stage: In later stages, the epidermis flattens and the dermis rearranges, withdrawing blood vessels and forming a white color.
